The California Academy of Sciences, a shrine to Eco-Friendliness in Golden Gate Park, has undergone a $500 million renovation, and among the kid-pleasing new additions are the African Penguin colony, a movie about creepy bugs, a coral-reef diving exhibit, and planetarium shows. There are adult distractions, too, such as a rainforest that stands four stories tall.
