Bruno Borrione, a member of Phillippe Starck’s celebrated design team, took three heritage buildings from different periods into the 21st century at the InterContinental Paris Avenue Marceau. Opened in 2008, this small hotel of only 55 rooms evokes an urbane yet classical ambience with such memorable touches as Venetian Renaissance frescoes and beveled mirror groupings mixed with black leather Barcelona chairs and brushed stainless steel high tables with bamboo-styled legs. Rooms are sleek yet adorned with plush accents like faux fur throws and Bang & Olufsen sound systems. Dining is the coup de grace, with the conservatory restaurant Le M64 offering courtyard seating when weather permits and creative caviar-and truffle-accented dishes that emulate works of art by celebrated Chef Romain Marzet all year ’round.
