Few know about the whisper gallery, located outside the entrance to The Oyster Bar & Restaurant in Grand Central Terminal. Here’s how it works: Stand in diagonal corners opposite a friend or loved one with backs turned to the chamber’s center and whisper secrets into the corner joint. Amazingly, the person diagonally across will hear your every word. Love karma abounds here, too, as this is where hundreds have sunk to their knees to propose marriage. As for the Oyster Bar itself, this eatery has been famous for seafood and sumptuous fowl and turf since the Vanderbilts traveled in their own private rail cars. Favorite dishes include Oysters Rockefeller, Coquille St. Jacques, and bouillabaisse. Confidential Tip: If you’re in a hurry, eat at the oyster bar instead of the classic dining room. The menu is the same, but you’re out in a jiffy.
