Keep your eyes peeled for a New England-style lighthouse – circa 1825 – so you know you’ve reached Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Miami’s best seaside escape for peace, quiet, and a large dose of beach beauty. Situated on the south end of Key Biscayne off the Rickenbacker Causeway, south of downtown Miami, this uncluttered mile offers walking/biking trails traversing through tropical vegetation, much of which is only found in Florida. For the more adventuresome, climb the 109 steps (we counted) to the top of the lighthouse watchtower for a full tour. Time to fish? Head for the seawall for what some say is the area’s best shoreline angling, or simply enjoy a quick bite without having to catch it by stopping by Boater’s Grill.
