If swimming sans suit is your thing, head over to the north end of the aptly named Haulover Beach where soaking up rays in the altogether is positively legal. In fact, this is the only place in Miami to enjoy such a distinction. Situated on Miami Beach between Sunny Isles and Bal Harbour, just over the Causeway, this versatile sand spot makes sure the more modest are catered to, too, as the clothing optional part of this one-and-one-half mile beach is well marked. Haulover Beach is also great to surf (the swells are swell), and for picnics and barbecues, shaded by pleasingly landscaped sand dunes. Also popular: kite flying. (Need a high-flyer and string? There’s a kite shop right on the beach.)
