When it comes to skincare, Eva Longoria has more than a few secrets up her sleeve, and admits to at least a nightly ritual of moisturizers, Vitamin C and beauty balms.
Her visage has barely changed since she made her first appearance on “Desperate Housewives,” and while the 39-year-old, Texas-born Mexican-American beauty makes it look oh-so-effortless, there are a few more skin-care secrets – and gurus who hold the key – to the combined effort that make Hollywood beauties like Eva look red-carpet ready 24-7.
Here’s a quick guide to some great non-surgical skincare treatments around town that, while more expensive than a few moisturizers and beauty balms, won’t compromise that Hamptons summer share.
Clear and Brilliant
Clear and Brilliant is a unique laser skin resurfacing treatment that illuminates skin, while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
First the skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic, then a laser is used to gently resurface (think very, very warm, but not a burn, perhaps even scratchy like a cat’s tongue).
After about six treatments (about two weeks apart), skin is much smoother, clearer and glowing, though many people see results in as few as three to four treatments.
My results were visible immediately, and my treatment now six weeks out has kept my skin completely clear and smooth. If you have sensitive skin, or rosacea, you will look like you were in the sun all day without sunscreen post-treatment, but this will calm and pass overnight. Results last about two to three years. The staff at Dr. Victoria Karlinsky’s office is warm and welcoming from the moment you step through the doors, and your every need is tended to. $450 per session, New Look New Life Surgical Arts, 200 W. 57th St., 646-559-2854, newlooknewlife.com.
This facial filler is one of the newest facial injectable fillers to hit the market, and is FDA approved for restoring volume loss to the mid-face region, like those pesky indentations that form around the mouth when you smile, in the cheekbones and around the chin.
The formula is a combination of collagen and elastin to improve structure and elasticity. A numbing agent is first added, which sits for 15-20 minutes (check your e-mails, phone a friend), then the formula is injected through a needle under the skin.
One treatment can last up to two years, which is a very long time compared to injectable treatments to date. $1,100 – $1,400 for one treatment (which means one syringe).

Platelet Rich Plasma
Many celebrities use this method to correct pitted acne scars on the skin, which is commonly referred to the “Vampire Facial” because it uses your own blood to correct pitted acne scars on the skin.
One vial of blood from a patient is taken before treatment and spun into a centrifuge using the patient’s red blood cells and their own plasma. The plasma contains “ingredients,” or growth factors, that cause increased stimulation of collagen and also helps to heal patients post procedure.
After the blood is completely separated, just the liquid plasma is taken from the vial, leaving the red blood cells behind. The plasma is injected into the problem area of the patient’s face using small needles, similar to those of dermal fillers (like Botox).
You are entirely awake for this procedure, just like if you were having Botox, and numbing is not necessary but it is recommended and most people do opt for it. Some swelling will occur post-procedure, and in some cases bruising. It’s $1,250 per treatment; one to three treatments are recommended depending on goals.

LED Collagen Bed
The LED Collagen Bed is often referred to as the place to retreat to for a “party face.”
You reserve a session (10, 20, or 40 minutes) where you lie down in this bed, there are lights on the bottom and top and close yourself in. The Led Right Light (LED) has a cherry bowl full of benefits: stimulates collagen and elastin in the face; increases energy (ATP) in your cells; improves circulation; promotes healing; is great for any type of inflammation; tightens the skin; removes wrinkles; provides moisture in your skin; and is incredible for sunburn, which is gone the next day if you use it for this.
The LED light was created by NASA and has many benefits with really no side effects and no downtime. It is often used in sports medicine for wound and injury healing. For best results, do this the day before a big party or night out when you want your skin to look its best.
The price is adjusted based on the time, $400 for 40 minutes, but you can do 20 minutes or 10 minutes. There is no limit to how many days you can do them in a row.
