When the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas Hotel debuted in December 2009, so did an ode to modern art in Sin City. Frank Stella, Henry Moore, and Nancy Rubins are all represented in the opulent Asian hotel’s celebrated collection. So is an in-your-face Claes Oldenburg/Coosje van Bruggen outdoor sculpture, which greets you as you enter this snazzy new Nevada retreat. Standing there is a four-ton, 19-foot stainless steel and fiberglass rendering of a big, bright, old-school typewriter eraser — a sure bet for inspiring any aspiring writer. The hotel also offers fine dining and a spa rife with serenity, Asian-style.
