Don’t just gaze lovelorn at Diamond Head Crater, hike into it. This state park, encompassing nearly 475 acres, offers jaw-dropping coastal views, as well as a trail that undulates along the slope. Rather steep, the moderate hike takes about an hour up, and much less going down. A few serious inclines do deter some hikers, but take your time and soon you will reach the summit. Once achieved, views to the sea and inside the crater will never be forgotten. Go early in the cool hours of the day and carry a snack to celebrate your reaching the top. Trailhead is located off Diamond Head Road, between Makapu Avenue and 18th Avenue.
