Once checked in, we could hardly move beyond the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas, in Henderson. There, amid a highly civilized conversation spot to take tea is a shiny new pool table. After a few games of sinking the eight ball, we found this gamer’s delight to be just the beginning, up to and including an enticing outdoor swimming pool and a serene manmade lake — complete with gondola rides and a dramatic waterfall. Reminiscent of Florence, this sprawling and luxurious Ritz-Carlton — located 20 minutes from the dizzying (yet still easily accessible) Las Vegas Strip — offers a sumptuous taste of Italy and even furnishes its own Ponte Vecchio.
