A century-old Spanish palace seems like an appropriate home for an Egyptian museum and art collection (if not a Dan Brown adventure novel). So when the Palau Vedruna became the Hotel Claris in 1992, it retained its palatial brick façade and became home to a collection of Egyptian artifacts dating back as far as 2,686 B.C. The hotel itself is anything but stodgy. Its colorful bedrooms obey a contemporary urban design and are decorated with modern art, transporting you to the 21st century. It’s an ideal blend of the traditional and contemporary — much like Barcelona itself.
